Meet Aon Krakow Colleagues: Robert Chmielarski

What do you do? What does Aon do? And what does it really mean? Aren't those the questions we get asked so often? In the series: Meet Aon Krakow Colleagues, we want to present to you in the simplest way possible what our colleagues do on a daily basis. Here's the first interview - meet Robert, FP&A Operations Manager.

In your words: what does Aon do?

Aon is one of the world’s largest insurance brokers, providing reinsurance and human capital consulting solutions to our clients. We conduct business globally through our 4 main business lines:

    • Commercial Risks Solutions – we offer risk advisory and structured solutions to help identify, quantify & manage risk exposure,
    • Health Solutions – helping our clients improve employee health and wellbeing while managing costs.
    • Reinsurance Solutions – we provide our expertise and support to leading insurance companies to help them to share their risks more effectively,
    • Wealth Solutions – we help employers and fiduciaries to optimize results and provide a more secure future for their stakeholders.

What does your team/department do?

I work in the Finance Department in the area of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). We focus on activities such as planning, forecasting and various analytical tasks to support Aon in making better business decisions and increase financial health of our company. With those FP&A data, we can assess how the plan and forecast compare to actual financial performance and how to best approach efficiency goals and fiscal strategies.

What do you do in your job?

My job is to help colleagues in business departments better understand how their decisions impact our financial performance and help them in maximizing our profitability as a firm. Throughout the month, I support month-end close activities by performing cost and revenue analysis, but most importantly, together with my colleagues, I participate in creating forecasts/plans of financial results to reflect on how the business will perform. This requires participation in many business meetings, which keeps me close to the business and allows to better understand the areas and the solutions/products we offer to our customers.
