Aon Krakow: Giving to the healthcare community during COVID-19

During these uncertain times, many healthcare workers around the world need help. In our Krakow office, several colleagues jumped into action with some unique approaches.

  • Masks for Krakow medics

Like many places in the world, hospitals in Krakow needed more masks for their healthcare workers. Aleksandra Tomaszewska, an employee benefits specialist who is known in the office for being an avid community activist, founded a local grassroots movement called “Masks for Krakow Medics.”

With the help of a few hundred community members and Malgorzata Labaziewicz, transformation manager, the group contacted companies that use masks with supply to spare and organized members to sew masks. To date, the group has donated over 30,000 masks to Krakow hospitals.

  • Disinfectant liquid for hospitals

Led by the Krakow Finance department engagement team, colleagues (including engagement teams from different business units) came together to research and find a way to support growing local medical needs. They collaborated with Fundacja Licytuje Pomagam, a local foundation, to buy disinfectant liquids on our behalf for Szpital Uniwersytecki in Prokocim (the biggest hospital in Krakow).

Colleagues raised almost 3K PLN (~$728 USD) to buy 140 liters of the disinfectant liquid. Special thanks to Anna Cisek for coordinating this effort as well as members of the engagement teams and the colleagues who donated to the cause.

  • Paper for the hospital

Many Krakow hospitals needed support in other areas. Simple things like paper for printers.

Lukasz Regucki asked our Site Services team for support and as a result, Szpital Uniwersytecki dla Dzieci, the biggest children’s hospital in Krakow, received 20 boxes of paper (50,000 sheets). Special thanks to Lukasz and Site Services TeamAga SzopaLucyna Stanowska and Magdalena Jaracz.
